So, we hit that $6000 goal and passed it by one beautiful dollar! Thank you so much to everyone who pre-purchased an album, donated money, or helped out by passing the word along!! I truly appreciate it! We are now in the very final stages of this album -- the mastering is being completed TODAY by the amazing Joao Carvhalo and tomorrow we ship it off for manufacturing! The T-shirts are getting done as a write this, and the tour is going to be underway in just shy of 2 weeks! Amazing.

Help us celebrate and kick-off the Fire Breathers tour with a very special full-band plus lots of guests show TOMORROW night at the Dakota Tavern. Our friends Meanwood will be opening up the night with their haunting outlaw folk music, and joining me on stage will be Jay Swinnerton, Luke Stackhouse and Pat Phillips (fresh off the road with Kayla Howran), the Scarlett Jane girls, Jenny Allen and Paul Reddick! Seriously, amazing!!

It all starts at 10 p.m. and goes right til 2 a.m. Don't miss it!

We've already begun recording and it sounds awesome! I can't wait to finish it, but first we need to raise a little money to get the rest of it done. Please have a look at our Indiegogo campaign, and donate if you can. Please sure to leave comments and pass it along to your networks and friends. Every bit counts!!

If you want to help us out in another way, or with a personal cheque or cash donation, feel free to contact me at sarah@sarahburton.ca to make arrangements.

Since the completion of our 12 month-running Ladies in Waiting residency at Not My Dog, the ladies went into high gear working on their individual projects.

Here's what I have to report:

Valentine's day marked the release of the official music video for the song Gravity, from my 2010 release, Mayflower. Be sure to check out this beautiful video, directed by Alanna Marie Nish, shot and recorded live on location in a beautiful setting just north of Toronto. The video features Cindy Doire on bass, Pat Phillips on drums, Sara Fitzpatrick on fiddle, Jay Swinnerton on guitar, Jenny Allen on washboard and even my publicist, Joelle May, making her performance debut on shakers. A big thanks to everyone involved, but especially to Alanna Nish and her wonderful crew! Check out the link below or watch it on the music tab of this site.

Check out the video, pass it on, and let us know what you think! http://youtu.be/Fe_sYYzinsA

Valentine's day also marked the first day of tracking for my new upcoming album, Fire Breathers. This collection of forbidden love songs will feature the talents of Luke Stackhouse on bass, Pat Phillips on drums, Jay Swinnerton on lead guitar and more special guests to come. An album whose themes are taken from the darkest but sweetest parts of the heart, you can expect Fire Breathers to sing you a love-lullaby and then rock you like the one that got away. Recording in the beautiful live room at River 16 studio in my hometown, I'll be posting lots of updates over the next month as we do our best to raise money to finish the album. Come back and visit for behind-the-scenes fun as well as prizes and giveaways!

Check out River 16: www.river16.com

Faye Blais, who is enjoying a tour in sunny Australia right now with the killer all-girl trio, Jungal, is releasing her 3rd and highly anticipated album, On the Brightside. This is sure to be a sunny addition to your album collection -- having toured and played with Faye Blais on and off for over 2 years now, I know how much work has gone into this from the ground up, and the songs are AMAZING. I can't wait to hear it. I'm also happy to report that Faye will be back in Canada soon for spring and summer touring.

Check her out! www.fayeblais.com

Andrea Ramolo & Cindy Doire have been hard at work in the studio and are currently putting the finishing touches on the debut release from their new collaboration - Scarlett Jane. The new project features the talent of some of Ontario's finest musicians, including Gary Craig (drums), Ryan Webber (bass) and Greg Cockerill (guitar). Produced by Stew Crookes at the Woodshed in Toronto, you can expect powerful vocal lines and harmonies, racy lyrics and a rockin' band. Look out for Scarlett Jane's debut album in May.

I barely arrived home from my western summer escapades in late september before jumping on a plane to Edmonton.

Here I am, enjoying the beautiful crisp fall weather and looking forward to 2 weeks of solo shows from Edmonton to Lethbridge and many places in between.

Please go check out the shows page to see if I'll be in your town!

I have to admit - I'm going to miss the lightning bolts, the glam rock, the makeup, and the leopard print. But it's nice to get back to my roots.

Starting this weekend in Carstairs and Edmonton, I'll be getting my folk back-on for the next couple weeks. Please join me if you're in any nearby towns!

Here's wishing everyone a warm summer full of adventure and madness!!

We kicked off the coldest month of the year last night with the release of my awesome new video for "How Good You Are."
Now I'm just finishing packing my bags -- nothing like keeping yourself busy to distract from the freezing cold. A foot of snow dropped last night in Toronto and Sean Pinchin and I are heading to North Bay to start our February Freedom Tour. It's gonna be a blast, you should join us!

Winter is serious this year. At least it is here in Saskatoon, where I've been for the last little while, working with my other love, an environmental organization called WAM (We Are Many).

We've been doing some very cool stuff, and I've had a blast staying in Saskatoon, but I'll be saying goodbye this weekend. For those of you out here in the prairies, you have two chances to come say bye -- I suggest you do both:

Saturday Jan 29th

9:00 p.m. @ Lydia's

with Massey and the Fergusons

Sunday Jan 30th

1:00 p.m. @ The Farmer's Market

Following the 2nd Annual IceCycle!!

www.icecycle.ca

It will be sad to say farewell to Saskatoon, but I'm so excited to go back to Toronto and see my friends.

Last summer I was fortunate enough to get a grant from Videofact for a music video, thanks to the help of Flatline Pictures and The Next Element. These guys, under the direction of Landon Ramirez, made me an awesome video for "How Good You Are" from Mayflower. We're going to release this at the Gladstone Hotel as soon as I get home. Please come and celebrate with us! There will be lots of live music and two screenings of the video:

Tuesday Feb 1st

8:00 p.m. at the Gladstone Hotel (Melody Bar)

with James Clark

and Dirt Farmer

That's it for now! Stay tuned in the next few days... Sean Pinchin and I are making our way West from Toronto to B.C. this February to fight the Winter Blues. I'll be posting the details shortly!!

In the mean time, stay warm and see you soon.

I have lots of ways for you to keep warm on blistery evenings this month and next!

Every Monday this month I'll be sharing the stage with the loveliest of Toronto ladies at Not My Dog. Cindy Doire, Andrea Ramolo and I are joined every week by amazing women for our Ladies in Waiting Monday nights. Last week we kicked off the series featuring Faye Blais, and we even let some of our favorite men join in on the action (Pat Phillips on the drums, and Colin Cripps on sweet harmonies). Come join us every Monday from 10 p.m. onwards... you never know who's gonna show up, the month will be full of sweet surprises!

Also, after taking a month off to perform with Breathe Feel Love's production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, I'm going to be back at the Moonshine Cafe in Oakville for my Saturday Matinees, for the entire months of November and December. I'll be kicking it off again this Saturday from 4-7 p.m. with Allison Brown. I have some great guests lined up for this series, so please do come help us celebrate Saturday afternoons!!

More more shows check out the Shows tab - I have some fun things happening early this month at the Drake, Buddies in Bad Times theatre, and the Avro.

Now that I'm back in windy Toronto, I'm getting in the spirit of the fall... finding myself drawn towards new notebooks and pencils and markers. But I digress....

This month and next I'll be at the Moonshine Cafe each and every Saturday, from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. This is the perfect way to spend a mellow fall afternoon, with a coffee or a beer, and some lovely music.
